Today I ran my first hal marathon since October 2013. My official half PR, run at the 2013 Divas Half Marathon, was 3:11. My unofficial half PR comes from the 2013 Chicago marathon, 3:06. Today I ran Divas in 2:43, a 23-minute PR. It was amazing, and I ran eight miles without a break, a new best.

I started this journey at my first workout with Team in Training on May 26, 2012. I joined TNT because I was looking for something new, and because a dear friend's mother had been diagnosed with AML and was undergoing chemo. I wanted to help somehow, and remembered a family friend had completed a marathon with TNT a couple years prior, and thought, why not check them out?

TNT raises funds for LLS, providing services and support to current patients and their families, and committing funds to research drugs to treat blood cancers, drugs that often also treat other types of cancer. My personal Honoree, Beth, died of AML my second season with TNT. She had previously lost her daughter and father to AML. I'm with TNT to help other families avoid the devastation cancer can cause.

I've met some amazing people as I've trained, and they inspire me to keep going and to do more things I thought I couldn't do. I'm not currentliy training with TNT, but I'll be back with them before too long. Not only are they great people, but it turns out endurance sports are addictive.
